Once again, this year the Sogin Group participated in
Ecomondo, Europe's leading event for industrial and technological innovation in the circular economy, which was held from 8 to 11 November at the Rimini exhibition centre. During the four-day initiative, Sogin and Nucleco were present in the exhibition area with a stand to present the company's activities in Italy and abroad in the field of decommissioning, radioactive waste management, decontamination and remediation of contaminated sites.
In particular, the participation offered an opportunity to discuss and compare notes with other eco-sustainability operators on possible research strands for the future Technology Park, which will be built together with the National Radioactive Waste Repository, and to present the most innovative and sustainable technological solutions adopted by the Company. One of these solutions, Survey 3D, allows to reconstruct virtual models of complex works and installations from a Building Information Modeling (BIM) perspective. This solution also allowed stand visitors to experience a virtual journey inside the reactor of the Garigliano nuclear power plant.
Lastly, the conference
“The Environmental Sustainability of Works: Assessment Processes”, chaired by Massimo Gabellini, Head of the VAL-ASI Service - ISPRA, took place within the framework of the event, allowing institutions, planners and proponents to discuss the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Sogin's Environmental Engineering Manager Pina Volpicelli outlined the guidelines and the environmental data management of works subject to EIA in nuclear decommissioning.
