Sogin Group, the 2023 Sustainability Report is now available online

The Sogin Group’s 2023 Sustainability Report is now available on the sogin.it and nucleco.it websites. This is a report that the Group has prepared on a voluntary basis to communicate the main activities carried out, the most significant data and objectives achieved to all its stakeholders.

The Sustainability Report is the main annual reporting tool used by Sogin to detail its economic, social and environmental performance, including its contribution to achieving eleven out of the seventeen 2030 United Nationals Agenda Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This document, which Sogin has been publishing since 2005, confirms its ongoing commitment to working sustainably and in an environmentally friendly way in the nuclear and radioactive waste management sectors.

One of the most important innovations of 2023 is the approval of the Group's first Sustainability Plan, which aims to integrate sustainability into the Company’s operations, promoting a development model based on the circular economy. The Plan aims to enhance the Sogin Group’s distinctive skills and increasingly involve the territories where the Group operates, with the aim of generating shared value and contributing to the sustainable development of the country.

The document also presents the main activities carried out during the year and the action taken to support the Company's circular economy strategy, which are based on radioactive waste minimisation, improving energy efficiency, sending the non-radioactive waste produced by decommissioning to recovery and reusing buildings at facilities rather than building new ones.

The results achieved in 2023 are the result of the work of about a thousand people at Sogin and Nucleco, representing the most significant pool of nuclear and environmental expertise in Italy. This pre-eminence is recognised by the main international organisations in the sector, as confirmed by their participation in numerous events and work groups. A core of know-how, skills and experience, which the Group has been able to maintain, update and transfer over the years through the special training courses provided at Sogin’s Radwaste Management School.

Together with the 2023 Sustainability Report, a short questionnaire is also online, available at this link, to collect suggestions and opinions aimed at making the document more consistent with stakeholders' expectations and needs.
